WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Babson College outscored the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team 9-0 in the first period and rode to a 23-2 victory over the Lyons on Saturday in NEWMAC action.
Mount Holyoke (7-7, 2-7 NEWMAC) will conclude the 2026 season on Wednesday at 6pm at home against Emerson College. A repeat of last season's win over the Lions would give Mount Holyoke an 8-7 final record.
Babson (9-6, 6-3 NEWMAC) moved into fourth place in the NEWMAC standings with its second straight win. The Beavers finish the regular season at Wheaton on Wednesday.
Mount Holyoke sophomore Juliana Spaulding (Wakefield, Mass.) scored both of the Lyons' goals in the game on assists from senior Emi Bisson (Chester, Conn.). Spaulding also had a game-high four draw controls with two caused turnovers, and now has 35 goals on the season.
Bisson was held to two shots in the game, but dished out her career-high 44th and 45th assists of the season. She enters her final game as a Lyon with 45 goals and 45 assists; she is two assists away from tying Mount Holyoke's single-season record.
Jenna Wong scored a player-down goal to put Beavers ahead 1-0 2:05 into the contest. Wong scored four more goals in the first quarter and two more in the second to finish with a game-high seven goals along with an assist.
Courtney Laden had four goals and an assist for Babson, Grace Rooney scored three times, and Lilly Bedard and Lauren Caley scored two apiece.
Mount Holyoke won six of 10 draws in the first quarter but was outshot by Babson 14-5 in the period. The Lyons were outdone by the Beavers on draw controls 12-3 the rest of the way, and Babson had a 36-16 advantage in shots for the game.
Sophomore Valeria Bolanos (Newington, Conn.) made seven saves in three quarter for the Lyons; sophomore Theo Gillette (Portland, Ore.) allowed four goals in the fourth quarter. For Babson, Francesca Taumburini made seven saves in the first three quarters, and Valentina Erigoyen made three saves in the fourth quarter.
