Rimando's long jump win tops track and field highlights at Tufts invitational

MEDFORD, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke track and field team traveled to Tufts University for its first meet of 2026 on Saturday and competed well at the seven-team Branwen Smith-King Invitational, highlighted by senior captain Elle Rimando's victory in the long jump.

The non-scoring meet included athletes from Bowdoin, Bridgewater State, Fitchburg State, Springfield, Trinity, and Tufts, in addition to the Lyons.

Mount Holyoke's highlights included:

  • Rimando (Mililani, Hawaii) captured first place out of 17 competitors in the long jump with her final attempt of 5.12 meters (16'9.75"), besting Tufts' Cameron Stanton (16'6") and Bowdoin's Sophia Young (16'5.75") to win the event.
  • Senior Sarah West (Concord, N.H.) ran a personal-best time of 19:27.62 in the 5,000 meters, placing third.
  • Sophomore Annika Lackstrom (New London, N.H.) had a great race in her return to the team, placing fifth out of 18 runners in the 3,000 meters in 11:27.19.
  • Sophomore Bridget Hughes (Easton, Mass.) ran a personal-best 1:48.12 in the 600 meters.
  • Junior Zivaishe Jaravaza (Harare, Zimbabwe) finished third in the 400 meters in 1:08.62, and also ran the 200 meters in 30.20 seconds.
  • First-year Akayla McDonald (Philadelphia, Pa.) led five Lyons competing in the shot put, with a top effort of 7.99 meters (26'2.75").
  • Senior Tess Marini-Rapoport (Northampton, Mass.) ran the 3,000 meters in a personal-best 12:07.99.
  • Senior Em Tetzlaff (Bath, Maine) placed 11th in the weight throw with a top effort of 10.97 meters (36'0").

Mount Holyoke's next compete at the Wesleyan University Invitational next Saturday starting at 10am.
