West leads three Lyons in the 5,000 meters at NEICAAA Championships

BOSTON -- Three Mount Holyoke distance runners all ran strong 5,000-meter races at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Championships on Friday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Senior Sarah West (Concord, N.H.) headed the three Lyons with a personal-best time of 19:24.77, good for 16th place out of 21 competitors in the race and third-fastest among Division III runners. Jasmine Trott of Division I Bryant won in 16:42.59.

Sophomore Annika Lackstrom (Lebanon, N.H.) placed 18th in 19:43.59, two seconds off of her season-best time. Senior Katie Earle (East Kingston, N.H.) followed in 19th place in 19:48.82, a season-best time.

Mount Holyoke senior Elle Rimando (Mililani, Hawaii) will try to qualify for next week's NCAA DIII Indoor Championships when she competes in the triple jump at the Tufts Final Qualifier on Saturday.
