West, Earle place 10th and 11th in 10K at New Englands

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Mount Holyoke seniors Sarah West and Katie Earle placed 10th and 11th, respectively, in the 10,000 meters on Friday as the Lyons' representatives at the New England Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Springfield College.

West (Concord, N.H.) finished the race in 40:55.14, 10th fastest among 23 competitors, while Earle (East Kingston, N.H.) was a place behind West in a time of 41:04.37. Emily Philbrook of UMass-Dartmouth won in 39:18.11.

Mount Holyoke will compete at the all-divisions NEICAAA Outdoor Championships next weekend May 8-9 at Stonehill College in Easton, Mass.
