Track takes on tough field at Tufts Cupid Challenge

MEDFORD, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College track and field team competed with of the best student-athletes in Division III Saturday at the Tufts Cupid Challenge, posting solid results in a handful of events.

Sophomore Sachi Robinson (Staten Island, N.Y.) won Section 2 and finished seventh overall among 31 runners in the 800 meters, with a time of 2:29.08.

Sophomore Bridget Hughes (Easton, Mass.) won Section 3 of the 800 meters and placed 13th overall in a career-best time of 2:35.63.

Three Lyons competed in the 5,000 meters, led by sophomore Annika Lackstrom (New London, N.H.) placing 23rd among 37 runners in a career-best 19:41.35. Senior Sarah West (Concord, N.H.) placed 27th in 19:46.76, and senior Katie Earle (East Kingston, N.H.) took 29th place in 19:50.98.

Sophomore Thandi-Wanj Delgado-Kinyatti (South Hadley, Mass.) led three Lyons competing in the shot put, placing 23rd out of 31 athletes at 7.88 meters (25'10.25").

The Lyons will compete at Smith College on Friday, Feb. 20 at 5:30pm in the annual Mount Holyoke-Smith-Wellesley indoor tri-meet.
