CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Elle Rimando's superb athletic career at Mount Holyoke College concluded Thursday at the MIT Final Qualifier meet, where she notched outstanding marks in both the triple jump and the long jump, though not enough to advance to next week's NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships.
Rimando (Mililani, Hawaii) had a top effort of 11.01 meters (36'1.5") on her final attempt in the triple jump, which was sixth-best among 12 athletes at the meet, and 5.21 meters (17'1.25") in the long jump, which was the second best mark in a field of 10 athletes. The outdoor season's consistently cold and damp weather on meet days continued on Thursday, helping no one's cause. The event marks MHC's final athletic competition of the academic year.
Rimando will graduate as the program's record holder in the triple jump at 11.91 meters, and with the program's #2 ranking in the long jump at 5.60 meters. She became the Lyons' first NCAA Championships competitor in track and field in six years when she competed in the triple jump at NCAAs a year ago.
An exemplary multi-sport student-athlete, Rimando won All-NEWMAC honors in volleyball in the fall, and was named her class's Athlete of the Year for the fourth straight year. An outstanding architectural studies student, Rimando also received the Laurie Priest Scholar-Athlete Award as the college's top student-athlete from the class of 2026.
