MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- The Mount Holyoke track and field team registered some strong marks Saturday at the Wesleyan University Alumni Invitational.
The meet non-scoring meet featured athletes from a diverse field of schools in addition to Mount Holyoke, including New Haven, Emmanuel, Vassar, Nicholas, New Jersey City, Hartford, Eastern Conn. St., Fitchburg State, Manhattanville, and Wesleyan.
Lyons' highlights included:
- Senior Elle Rimando (Mililani, Hawaii) placed third out of 22 competitors in the long jump with a top effort of 5.06 meters (16'7.25"). Rimando also placed fifth in the triple jump at 10.10 meters (33'1.75").
- Seniors Sarah West (Concord, N.H.) and Katie Earle (East Kingston, N.H.) placed first and second, respectively, among eight runners in the 3,000 meters in times of 11:06.78 and 11:38.09.
- Sophomore Annika Lackstrom (New London, N.H.) finished second out of six runners in the 5,000 meters, with a time of 20:04.24.
- Sophomore Katherine Herring (Lebanon, N.H.) placed sixth out of 12 runners in the 1,000 meters (3:19.44).
- Sophomore Sachi Robinson (Staten Island, N.Y.) took sixth place out of 17 runners in the 800 meters (2:36.31).
- First-year Akayla McDonald (Philadelphia, Pa.) led four Lyons throwers in the shot put, placing 24th out of 35 athletes at 8.26 meters (27'1.25").
- Sophomore Bridget Hughes (Easton, Mass.) placed eighth in the 600 meters (1:49.14).
- Junior Zivaishe Jaravaza (Harare, Zimbabwe) placed 11th in the 400 meters (1:07.86) and 21st in the 60 meters (8.89).
- Senior Kiera McLaughlin (Keene, N.H.) notched a personal-record mark in the weight throw, placing 20th out of 29 athletes in 10.10 meters (33'1.75").
- First-year Marin Lambert (Bothell, Wash.) and senior Tess Marini-Rapoport (Northampton, Mass.) placed 15th and 16th, respectively, in the mile in 6:06.23 and 6:06.31.
- The 4x800 relay team of junior Dalia Luckhardt (Cerritos, Calif.), Robinson, Herring, and Hughes registered a time of 10:41.42.
The Lyons will compete at the BU Terrier Classic on Friday Jan. 30 in Boston.
